When I chose the picture above for our theme and motto it reminded me of two great songs of old.  The first song ties in with the Forum because there we want to walk beside you so you do not walk alone.

" Don't walk alone - let us walk beside you"

A long time ago, about 1952, there was a great lady singer by the name of Jane Froman that had recovered from an airplane accident that nearly killed her.  She spent a long time in recovery, 13 operations throughout the forties and returned to a famous nightclub - the "Chez Paree" in Chicago and this was her opening song.  There was not a dry eye in the place.

Here is the verse of the song.

I'll walk alone because to tell you the truth

I'll be lonely, I don't mind being lonely

When my heart tells me you are lonely too.

I'll walk alone, they'll ask me why and Ill tell them I'd rather.

There are dreams I must gather,

Dreams we fashioned the night you held me tight.

I'll always be near you wherever you are each night

In every prayer.  If you call, I'll hear you, no matter how far.

Just close your eyes and I'll be there.

Please walk alone and send your love

And your kisses to guide me

Till you're walking beside me, I'll walk alone.

When I was developing this site and I saw the picture I thought of that great performance and the trials and tribulations the singer had gone through.  I thought it to be very similar to what men and their loved ones are going through as a result of this disease.

I also thought of another song "You'll Never Walk Alone" which really is what we are here for - to never let you walk alone and thus our motto was created by the memory of these two songs.

Here are the words to this song:

When you walk through the storm

Hold your head up high

And don't be afraid of the dark

At the end of the storm

There's a golden sky

And the sweet silver song of the lark

Walk on, through the wind

Walk on, through the rain

Though your dreams be tossed and blown

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

Walk on, walk on, with hope in your heart

And you'll never walk alone

You'll never walk alone

" Don't walk alone - let us walk beside you"
